I want to share this wonderful resource called Pictures from Proverbs! There are two sets of 18 cards available that feature character analogies from the book of Proverbs. Each 8.5 x 11 card has a colorful picture on the front along with a question like, "Who is like clouds and wind without rain?" When you flip the card over, it contains the answer, "He who boasts of his gifts falsely", an explanation of the verse, a couple other Bible illustrations on the topic of boasting, and a review section with questions.
We have been going through one card per week and it's been a great way to teach the children (and myself!) to remember these character qualities. It's also a fun way to address character issues with your kids when they arise. The other day, we had company over and Rachel was struggling with nagging and being quarrelsome. I was able to say, "Who is like a continual dropping on a very rainy day?" She got what I meant immediately and stopped what she was doing. It was neat to have a sort of "secret code" to address her misbehavior in front of our guests. :)
Set 1 contains the following topics:
And Set 2:
•A Merry Heart
•Oppressing the Poor
•Honoring a Fool
•The King's Anger
